Herkimer County HealthNet is pleased to present a check in the amount of $2,500 to Community Transportation Services (CTS) in an effort to increase access to healthcare through providing transportation resources in the northern region of Herkimer County. In recent years, Herkimer County HealthNet has identified access to healthcare as a barrier to better health.
“The need for transportation to medical appointments and specialized care continues to grow in our region,” says Elyse Enea, Executive Director of Herkimer County HealthNet. “We enjoy working with transportation providers such as Community Transportation Services in Old Forge.”
With the significant growth in the numbers of residents needing assistance in Herkimer County, this initiative will serve Herkimer County and help to assure that people have access to the health care they need. In addition, an increase in the use of primary care and urgent care will reduce less-appropriate use of Emergency Room Departments in area hospitals.
In the southern region of Herkimer County, HealthNet presented a check a few months ago to the Catholic Charities RIDE Program for the same purposes.
In 2020, CTS established Safety Policies and Procedures following New York State Department of Health guidelines with respect to COVID-19. For more information about Community Transportation services, you can call (315) 369-2830 or e-mail ctsny@frontier.com.
